GNA Jumping Program Recap for 2019–2020 Season
April 21, 2020
Our jumping season went well this year!
Gilford, NH – April 21, 2020 – Gunstock Nordic Association – In early November, our team of four brave athletes started practice sessions with balance and strength training. We then moved outside for dry-land training with the Roller Jump Simulator (always starting indoors, working on the aerodynamic in-run positioning movements that are essential for a good jump).
Once we got enough natural snow to get the 10-meter jump up and running, we started on-hill sessions under the lights. Having the dry-land training proved to be very helpful for the athletes, giving them the strength and agility to progress quickly and effectively on a real jump. All four athletes were able to attend a few local competitions, and each performed well. They also had lots of fun and enjoyed meeting other athletes and parents in the small but very cool Jumping Community.
Our athletes for the 2019/2020 season were:
Alex Beck, Sarah Beck, Braden Van Hirtum, and Riley Van Hirtum
These four talented athletes should be applauded for their commitment, efforts, and accomplishments. While this season was shortened, we hope to see the whole team back next year, and we look forward to inviting some new athletes as well!
When we finally get to the other side of this awful pandemic and are able to meet in person again, we would like to hold an end-of-season GNA gathering where we can recognize our athletes for their great work.
Think Snow, stay safe, and we’ll be in touch soon!

About the GNA Jumping Program
Ski jumping is alive and well in central New Hampshire! We typically start the youth ski jumping program towards the end of October and it runs through March. We always have openings for new jumpers—to start all you need is alpine equipment!
