GNA and GMR Restore the Oak Trail Bridge
GNA and GMR has been busy getting the trails ready for the 2023/2024 season. The first item on the agenda was restoring the Oak Trail bridge, which has been out for the past 5 seasons. Last Saturday GNA members John Stow, Ed Momm, and Rob Riley teamed up with Peter Deely, the GMR Nordic trails director, and Myles Chase, a long-time season pass hold at Gunstock, and built a new bridge on the trail.
Participating in the construction was John Stow and Rob Riley (GNA, not shown), Peter Deely (GMR), Myles Chase, and Ed Momm (GNA).
Construction of the new bridge restored access to a favorite trail of the Gunstock community. The Oak Trail meanders through a beautiful hardwood forest featuring oak, maple, and hemlock trees—and connects the Birch to the top of the Fire Cut Trail. We’re all looking forward to taking a ski on it when the snow starts to fly this December.
